Trees for Houston, a non-profit organization dedicated to planting trees throughout the Houston area, plans to give away 3-5 foot trees in 5 gallon containers at the Taylor Lake Village city park on Kirby Blvd. Saturday, October 5 from 10am until 1pm. They will have several hundred trees of different species available for citizens and will make more available at a later date if they run short. If you desire a specific species, contact Barry Ward at barry@treesforhouston.org to see if they can accommodate your request.
Taylor Lake Village, like so many of the Houston area communities, has had severe tree loss from recent drought. The City strongly encourages you to consider picking up free trees this Saturday and planting them, either in your yard or in the park, to help re-forest our neighborhoods.
