Clear Lake Area Republicans PAC is co-Hosting a phone banking competition with the Harris County GOTV Team, Thursday 25th, from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
‘Refreshments’ will be served for ALL participants, provided by CLAR but the 1st 10 RSVP’s that Beth receives for this event, will be fed dinner provided by HCRP GOTV Team, while competing in the contest at the Clear Lake Victory location!
Participants must RSVP, prior to the competition.
ANYONE is eligible to win the gift card provided by HCRP.
Objective: Make as many phone calls as possible in 3 1/2 hours.

This event is hosted by myself and our distinguished State House delegation, the Honorable Representatives Dennis Bonnen (HD 25), Greg Bonnen (HD 24), John Davis (HD 129), Wayne Smith (HD 128), and Ed Thompson (HD 29).
The reception will be held at the Reata Restaurant on Houston Street, walk-able from the Fort Worth Convention Center, where the Texas Republican Convention will take place.

Texas Senate District 11

There are a lot of great things happening in Senate District 11. It would be an understatement if I said that I’ve never been more proud to be your chairman. We have made tremendous amount of progress in the past 18 months, but there is still a lot of work left for us to do together.
With the 2014 Primary Election currently underway, and the convention season about to start, it’s going to take a team effort to keep Senate District 11 red. Please share this email with all of your conservative friends, and invite them to join our mailing list. Here are some of the many things currently going on in the district:
Today is the last day of early voting. I know that some of you are already at the polls campaigning or rallying the voters in your precincts. Please remind all of your family, friends, and neighbors that the polls are open until 7:00 p.m. tonight. They can still vote on Tuesday, March 4, but today they can vote at any of Harris County’s 39 early voting locations. To find a nearby early voting location, please click here.
Primary Election Day
The 2014 Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 4. It is HCRP’s official policy to encourage precinct chairs to work as election judges on election day. If you are a precinct chair that has not been assigned to a polling location, please consider serving as an election official. The polls will be open from7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., and equipment pickup will be at the Election Technology Center tomorrow andSunday.
Again, please remind all of your family, friends, and neighbors to get out and vote. This is a very critical election! If you, or anyone you know, is interested in serving as an election official, please contact as soon as possible.
The 2014 Precinct Conventions will also be held on Tuesday, March 4. These conventions are generally held at the polling location in each election precinct. If they are held at a different location, a notice of that location should be posted at the polling location.
Temporary convention chairmen will call their conventions to order at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, or as soon as the last voter has voted. If not working as an election official, temporary chairmen should be sure to pick up their packets from the election judge in their precinct. These packets contain information about conducting a precinct convention, including the official minutes that are to be completed by the permanent convention chairman and secretary. These minutes must be turned into the party within 3 days, or postmarked within 2 days. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in the precinct convention being declared void.
The person who is to serve as temporary convention chairman is fixed by resolution. If you are currently serving as a precinct chair, you are the temporary convention chairman. If you are a precinct chair-elect and your precinct does not currently have a precinct chair, then you are the temporary convention chairman. If your precinct does not have a precinct chair, and nobody has filed to run as precinct chair in this election, then you can be the temporary convention chair if you are the first to obtain the packet from the election judge in your precinct. Additionally, if you are in the third category please contact me as soon as possible so that we can get you started on the path to becoming a precinct chair. If you are otherwise entitled to be the temporary convention chairman, and you don’t pick up your packet by 7:01 p.m., any eligible person may pick up the packet and serve as the temporary convention chairman.
Regardless of who serves as temporary convention chairman, the convention will have the opportunity to elect its permanent convention chairman and other officers. These officers include secretary and sergeant-at-arms, and any other assistants and officers that may be needed to conduct the convention. All of these officers will be appointed as temporary officers by the temporary convention chairman, and the convention will vote on who it desires to have as its permanent officers. Generally, the temporary officers will be the permanent officers. However, this is not always the case, and the convention has the right to elect whomever they choose.
To be eligible to participate in the precinct convention you must (1) be registered to vote in the election precinct where the convention is being held, and (2) have voted in the 2014 Republican Primary Election or become affiliated with the Republican Party by completing the appropriate affidavit. The form needed for affiliating with our party should be available in the precinct convention packets. Obviously, voting in the election is the easiest and simplest way to become eligible, but the affidavit is an alternative way to become a Republican for those who did not vote in the primary election.
There are three things that each precinct convention must accomplish. First, they must elect permanent officers. Second, they must election delegates and alternate delegates to the 2014 Senatorial District Convention. Finally, they must adopt resolutions, if any, to be sent to the 2014 Senatorial District Convention. You can view a sample precinct convention packet here. Senate District Convention
The 2014 Senatorial District Convention will be held on Saturday, March 22, at Grace Community Church. The church is located at 14505 Gulf Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77034. Registration for our district will begin at 9:00 a.m., and the convention will be called to order at10:00 a.m. If you do not live in Senate District 11, please confirm the convention times with your district chairman, as they do vary by district.
To attend the convention as a delegate or alternate delegate, you must be elected at your precinct convention. You do not need to be present at your precinct convention to become a delegate or alternate delegate, but you must be nominated and elected by your precinct convention. This is different from the 2012 Senatorial District Convention, because we did not have precinct conventions in that year. The entire convention schedule in 2012 was modified because of the redistricting lawsuits. The bottom line is this – if you want to attend the 2014 Senatorial District Convention, you should make every effort to attend the 2014 Precinct Convention or have someone who is attending to be sure and nominate you there.
If you are not elected as a delegate or alternate delegate at your precinct convention, you can not participate in the 2014 Senatorial District Convention. Even if there are remaining delegate or alternate delegate positions available, the opportunity is closed the moment your precinct convention adjourns. Minutes of the precinct convention can not be changed after the convention adjourns. Please make every effort to attend your precinct convention (see above) if you are interest in attending the 2014 Senatorial District Convention.
For those of you who will be delegates or alternate delegates, we will have a convention planning meeting on Saturday, March 8, at Border Grill & Cantina. Also, I want to thank Daniel McCool and our Vice District Chairman, Tanya Robertson, for taking time out of their schedules to help put this planning meeting together. There are temporary committees and other details regarding the convention that we need to discuss at this meeting. As Temporary Chairman of the 2014 Senatorial District Convention for our district, it is my responsibility to appoint temporary members and chairs to each of the convention’s committees. If you are interested in serving on a committee, it is imperative that you attend this meeting.
Several months ago, I introduced a proposal to the HCRP Advisory Board. That proposal was to provide general liability insurance to local clubs and auxiliary organizations who needed such insurance to hold certain events and rallies. I am proud to report that, not only was the proposal unanimously adopted, but Senate District 11 is the first district to obtain the insurance. We now have a $1 million general liability insurance policy that can be made available to local clubs and organizations as needed. If your club finds itself in need of an event policy, please contact me for more information on how Senate District 11 can help sponsor your event and provide the necessary insurance to your organization.
That said, we are sponsoring our first event this Sunday, March 2, at the San Jacinto Monument Park. Battleground Tea Party is hosting Independence Day Rally 2014 to celebrate Texas Independence Day. I am also pleased to announce my appointment of our newest organizational assistant, Erin McIntire. She will be serving as our District Photographer effective immediately. Her smile is contagious, so hopefully we won’t see any more frowns when we start uploading pictures of our events online! She is a strong conservative, and I know you will find her energy and talent to be a wonderful addition to our district. Please join me in congratulating Erin on her appointment, welcoming her to the district team, and thanking her for her willingness to step up and serve.
If you have any resolutions that you would like to introduce at your precinct convention or the 2014 Senatorial District Convention, but you’re not sure how to draft them, please feel free to contact me. I can send you a sample resolution that you can use to draft your own before the convention. Bringing printed copies of your resolutions makes the process go much smoother, and increases the likelihood of your resolutions being adopted. These resolutions will go into making our 2014 district platform, and also ultimately go into forming the 2014 state platform. It all starts at the precinct conventions the night of the primary election, so don’t miss this important opportunity to get involved in shaping the principles that define who we are as Republicans!

However, I believe we are fighting the good fight, and I couldn’t ask for a better group of folks to fight alongside as we push forward. SUPPORT FOR ELECTORAL INTEGRITY
WHEREAS the Republican Party has long taken the lead in fighting for the integrity of the electoral process, and
WHEREAS the 2012 Republican Party of Texas platform opposes conflicts of interest in the form of attempting to influence votes by appointed or elected officials on behalf of paying clients, and
WHEREAS the 2012 Republican Party Platform calls upon “every citizen… to preserve the integrity of the vote”, and
WHEREAS we recognize that the appearance of impropriety is itself a form of impropriety, and such appearances in campaign and electoral practices undermine the confidence of voters in the integrity of our electoral system,
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Harris County Republican Party condemns the practice of “pay to play” endorsements, in which supposedly independent individuals, groups, or organizations request, solicit or require any fee, payment, or contribution as a condition of making or publicizing said endorsement;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Harris County Republican Party opposes the practice of groups, clubs, or organizations requiring candidates for office to pay a sum of money as a condition of being placed on the ballot for any straw poll, whether this is called a fee, contribution, sponsorship, or any other name;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Harris County Republican Party urges all elected or appointed officials of the Harris County Republican Party, Republican Party of Texas, Republican National Committee and any affiliated or associated club or organization to refrain from offering endorsements of any primary candidate when the candidate is a paying client;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Harris County Republican Party opposes the practice of providing money to “politiqueras” or other paid agents of campaigns so that they may provide money or any other thing of value to a voter in return for casting a ballot for a candidate;
AND BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED THAT the text of this resolution shall be posted under the “Voter Info” section of the Harris County Republican Party website within 48 hours of its adoption by the Executive Committee. Furthermore, within one week of its adoption a copy of this resolution shall be distributed to all candidates currently seeking a contested or uncontested nomination in the Republican primary and that it shall be distributed to all candidates at the time of filing for office in all future Republican primaries.
