SD11 Convention Committee Meetings
I know that many of you were elected as Delegates or Alternates during the Precinct Conventions to the Harris County Republican Party Senatorial District 11 Convention that will be held on March 24th, at Central Baptist Church 210 W X St, Deer Park, TX 77536 , however there are a few additional activities that you may want to participate in. The following information has been taken from an email that I received from our SD11 Chairman. This email defines the purpose of each committee, as well as the dates and times that each committee will meet prior to the actual convention.
Thanks for participating,
Mike Robertson

This email contains more information about the committee meetings that will occur before and during the convention. If this is the first email you’re seeing from me, it’s probably because your email address was just recently added in or corrected. Please read the last email I sent by clicking here for some very important information. My list now has every single person who wrote an email address in their packet, so if you know of someone who still isn’t receiving them, let me know so they can be added.
All committee meetings will take place at the Harris County Republican Party’s satellite office in Clear Lake. The address is 433 Bay Area Blvd. Houston, TX 77062 (it’s tucked away in a corner of a shopping center on the side closest to Highway 3). The suite is a little hard to find, so feel free to call me or someone on the committee you’re going to if you have trouble getting there. The temporary committee meetings are as follows:
Resolutions: Monday and Tuesday at 5 PM
Rules: Wednesday at 6 PM
Nominations: Wednesday at 7 PM
The Nominations Committee is the most important one for many of you: they compile the list of delegates who will go to the State Convention. While most of the state convention delegates will be chosen within precinct caucuses at the convention, the slots allotted to empty precincts will be filled by this committee. Also, if someone who is NOT a delegate to the district convention wants to go to the state convention, this committee will check their credentials. If you cannot go to the convention this Saturday and still want to go to the state convention, you will need to go to the committee meeting on Wednesday to interview. (If you can’t make either, contact me and we will discuss another arrangement). Most people who go before this committee will do so on Saturday because their precincts have more people who want to go to State than slots available–the meeting on Wednesday is for people who don’t have that option.
The Resolutions Committee will finalize the packet of resolutions that will go to the state Platform Committee. Right now, they’re working on condensing the resolutions submitted by your precinct conventions to a manageable size. If you want to testify before that committee, or bring another resolution to be considered, attend on Monday or Tuesday. You will also have the opportunity to do so at the convention, but in order to avoid delays we want to get as much of the business of these two committees done ahead of time as possible.
Finally, the Rules Committee will develop a rule package to use in addition to Robert’s Rules of Order and the standard party rules. Most importantly, this will set forth the precinct caucus process, but it also sets limitations on debate, amendments, and speaking time. The Credentials Committee and the Organization Committee will meet on the morning of the convention. I don’t expect most of you to have business before either of these committees–you’ll be contacted separately or notified at sign-in if there’s a credentials issue that needs to be resolved.
Thank you, and God bless,
