District Update |
Dear friends,
Some of you may be receiving emails from me for the first time. I want to thank all of you for your commitment to being involved in the 2014 Senatorial District Convention, and for everything you do to help keep Harris County a conservative stronghold. This email is just a reminder that the 2014 Senatorial District Convention for HCRP Senate District 11 will be held this Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Grace Community Church. The address is 14505 Gulf Frwy., Houston, Texas 77034. Senate District 11 should enter through the North entrance of the church (near the dirt parking area). Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m., and the call to order will be promptly at 10:00 a.m. You can click here for a map to the church. For those delegates and alternates from HCRP Senate District 11 only, a light breakfast and a Chick-fil-A lunch will be provided. The breakfast is being provided courtesy of Congressman Steve Stockman (TX-36), and the lunch is being provided by State Senator Larry Taylor. Please join me in thanking Congressman Stockman and Senator Taylor for their generous contributions to our district’s convention.
Since lunch is being provided at no cost, HCRP Senate District 11 delegates and alternates do not have to purchase a lunch unless they want to. This applies only to HCRP Senate District 11. If you are from one of the other senatorial districts, you must purchase lunch through the Harris County Republican Party or bring your own. Information about purchasing lunch is available on the yellow postcard you may have receuived in the mail, or on the Harris County Republican Party Web site. Also, we are grateful for the sponsorships we have received so far. Several grassroots activists, elected officials and candidates have contributed money to help our district offset the cost of putting together the convention. However, TEC rules will not allow money raised by me as a district chairman to be distributed to third party candidates, political parties or political action committees. Because of this restriction, we will be passing the hat (literally) at the convention to raise money directly for the Harris County Republican Party. This is entirely separate from the contributions we have raised for the district, and it will help the county party offset the cost of the facility fees, table rentals and other county-wide support expenses incurred as a result of the 2014 Senatorial District Conventions. We have been asked to contribute approximately $4,000 to cover our portion of those costs, so please help us support our county party when we “pass the hat” on Saturday. I will be sending out another email tomorrow with more details, including the agenda for Saturday. In the meantime I want to thank all of our temporary officers and committee members for all of their hard work and dedication. It’s going to be a great event, so please make every effort to attend. Until then, God bless you and your family! See you there! Blessings,
