To HCRP SD 11 Precinct Chairs,
As you well know, the Primary preseason is now upon us. The majority of Texas elected offices are up for the 2014 elections. As we begin to dive into numerous candidate forums, fundraisers, meet n’ greets, lunches and dinners, the Clear Lake Area Republicans (CLAR) are offering an opportunity for our community to come and listen to our elected officials answer questions regarding the recently concluded 83rd legislative regular and special sessions. I always find past performance a bigger indicator as to how an elected official will represent his constituents rather than a set of pre-election promises.
Consequently, CLAR has been able to ask the following legislators to come and answer questions regarding the 83rd Legislature:
Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst
State Sen. Larry Taylor (SD 11)
State Rep. John Davis (HD-129)
State Rep. Wayne Smith (HD-128)
State Rep. Greg Bonnen (HD-24)
As Republican Precinct Chairs, we are the party’s grassroots foot soldiers. It is our job to listen to our Republican elected officials, provide them with the input they need to hear, and if warranted hold them accountable. I am sending this email out to all Harris County SD-11 Precinct Chairs to personally invite them to come and participate in this town hall. Although we will be passing out post cards for the public to write down their questions, I am giving the precinct chairs the opportunity to pre-submit their questions in advance. If you have a question for any one (or all) of these legislators, please respond with your name, precinct #, question, and who you would like it directed to.
If we are to be an activist party and defend Red Texas against the progressive Blue democrats and Battleground Texas, we must engage in the political process. Open discussions with our Republican Leaders is a crucial component of our grassroots. Precinct Chairs should never be the "low information voter" being talked about by the conservative talking heads. We should be on top of our game and able to answer any questions from friend and foe alike.
Please join us Tuesday, August 20 at the Webster Civic Center, 311 Pennsylvania Ave., Webster TX 77598. Bring your Precinct Captains, friends and family. Social begins at 6:30 and the meeting will start at 7:00p. We will have tables set up for the newly formed Lone Star Republicans and the Southbelt Republican groups. Come by and say hi to the newest Republican grassroots organizations in the southeast Houston area.
